The Pilot Kaalaman Scholarship is the first phase of the DMW’s education and skills development initiative for OFWs. It provides free training for repatriated or returning OFWs who wish to pursue new careers in the healthcare sector.

It is implemented in partnership with:

  • Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA)
  • Dr. R.A. Fernando School of Healthcare Technology

The goal is simple: to give OFWs and their families access to practical healthcare training that leads to real job opportunities—locally or abroad.

Learning Options

To make it more flexible for OFWs, the program offers three modes of learning:

  • In-person (face-to-face) classes
  • Online training
  • Blended learning (combination of both)

This allows participants to choose the setup that best fits their schedule and location.

Participants are also given the option to choose from among six specialized healthcare-related courses, all focused on improving employability and professional growth:

  • Paramedics for Medical Practitioners
    • For graduates of Nursing, Physical Therapy, or other medical courses.

  • Emergency Medical Services (EMS) NC II
    • Trains participants to provide basic life support and pre-hospital emergency care.
  • Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC)

  • Caregiving (Elderly) NC II

Qualifications

Depending on the choice of course, you need to at least satisfy the following qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years old or above
  • Must have completed at least ten (10) years of Basic Education or Alternative Learning System (ALS) Grade 10 Certificate of Rating Holder or higher
    • For those who are interested in the Paramedics for Medical Practitioners Course: Must have completed a college degree in a medical field such as Nursing, Physical Therapy, or any medical-related courses.
  • Can communicate effectively both orally and in written form
  • Physically, emotionally and mentally fit as assessed and certified by any Licensed Philippine Physician

Requirements

Before applying, prepare the following documents:

  • PSA Birth Certificate (3 Copies)
  • Duly Accomplished Student Application Form
  • High School Card, Diploma or Form 137 for High School Graduates
  • T.O.R for College Graduates (Certified True Copy)
  • Barangay Clearance/ Police/NBI Clearance
  • Passport Size ID Pictures w/ nametag and White Background (4 pcs.)
  • Valid Government Issued ID or Company ID with 3 specimen signatures (3 copies)
  • Marriage Certificate (for married females)

Additional Requirements

  • For those taking the Emergency Vehicle Operation Course: Must be a holder of LTO Student Permit to drive a motor vehicle

Note: All requirements must be submitted online or during registration at the designated DMW office.

How to Apply

Step 2. Select Your Preferred Course
